Xiaomi made headlines when it unveiled its wired 100 watt fast charging technology in 2019, which promised to fully charge a 4,000 mAh battery in just 17 minutes. Oppo topped this one year later with its wired 125 watt fast charging solution. Now Xiaomi has just retrieve the top spot by a large margin.
Xiaomi just reveal its latest, fastest charging technology, which the company mantain has set a world record for both wired and wireless charging speeds. The company demonstrated a modified Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra that was charged via a wired 200 watt charger. The video shows the phone going from 0 percent in just 44 seconds to 10 percent and in 3 minutes to 50 percent, with a full charge being reached in just under 8 minutes.
New HyperCharge charging technology is so far to ready for commercial release. Even the current 120 watt charging technology from Xiaomi is currently only available on a single device - the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra. There are still fears that the service life of the battery could be greatly shortened in the long term with these fast charging processes.
