Media Markt and Saturn are significantly expanding their repair program for iPhones: The service is now available nationwide in Germany. Everything you need to know about the program can be found here in the text.
Good news for iPhone owners: Both Media Markt and Saturn have been offering a nationwide repair program for Apple smartphones since the beginning of October.
With their repair stations, both markets are among the "Authorized Apple Service Providers". For iPhone users this means: In the event of damage, the devices no longer have to be sent in or handed in to the selected Apple partners in order to receive repairs with original spare parts. First, the most common repairs are offered - including display damage, battery replacement and replacement of the home button. The markets list all services and prices on their respective websites .
Media Markt and Saturn: iPhone repairs in all branches
Defective iPhones can now be repaired in all Media Markt and Saturn branches.
A practical side effect: the so-called PlusSchutz from Media Markt and Saturn upgrades the AppleCare + service .
Since the markets are allowed to call themselves "Authorized Apple Service Providers", the iPhone and its accessories are covered. Alternatively, the iPhone can still be repaired in the Apple Store worldwide.
With up to two damage reports per year, the repairs should always cost 29 euros. If the iPhone cannot be repaired, the replacement costs 99 euros. Batteries are exchanged free of charge as soon as their capacity falls below 80 percent - there is also 50 GB of iCloud storage. Existing AppleCare contracts are apparently also supposed to allow the repair services at Media Markt and Saturn. At the moment, iPhone models from the iPhone 6s are covered.
Conventional hardware repairs without the PlusSchutz from Media Markt or AppleCare + start at a price of 59 euros.
The display repair is the most expensive service of the service provider. The exchange costs between 169 euros for the 6s and 359 euros for the iPhone 11. Unlike the installation with spare parts from other suppliers, devices that have been repaired with authorized Apple hardware do not lose their warranty.
What is good for iPhone owners, of course, ultimately also has advantages for the markets: If someone brings their iPhone to the branches for repairs, the chance is higher that they will take a quick look at the markets and maybe even one or the other item takes home.
