Instead of traditional TV, more and more people are using TV via the Internet. The best-known providers are probably Waipu.tv and Zattoo . With the Samsung TV Plus app, Samsung has now published its own service with over 90 free live channels in HD.
• Zattoo: costs and offers at a glance
• Waipu.tv: All costs at a glance
However, the offer cannot be used on every Android smartphone and the available channels are probably less known to most users.
The Samsung TV Plus app can be found in the Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Store, but the service has so far only been offered to Samsung devices. According to the device list, Samsung TVs from 2016 as well as Galaxy smartphones with Android 9 Pie and higher are supported - this includes the models from the Galaxy S10, S20, S21, Note 10 and Note 20 series.
After successful installation and confirmed data protection declaration, most programs can already be streamed. However, some channels require registration with a Google account or a Samsung account.
The structure of the app is very clear and clearly structured. The channels are sorted by genre and, in addition to films, there is also music & art, entertainment, news & documentaries, sports, children and much more. In addition, stations can be saved as favorites and reminders can be set for individual programs.
A total of 90 TV channels are available. What at first sounds like a large selection may be a bit disappointing for one or the other user. Because there are only a few well-known stations including the English-language news channel CNN. You also have to do without all public or private channels such as RTL, Pro7 or Sat.1 in the app. Samsung offers a complete overview of all channels in a PDF document .
