With the "Always Home Cam", Amazon has introduced a flying surveillance camera for the living room. The drone hovers through the interior of houses or apartments. We explain how this should work here.
If you have heard of Amazon drones so far, the main talk was of the mega-corporation's concept that in future products will be automatically delivered to customers by smart drones instead of parcel carriers. Now Amazon has, however, an entirely new concept drones presented : The "Always Home Cam" is a new monitoring system that automatically monitors your home and automatically sends data to your smartphone.
Due to the mobility of the drone, it could replace stationary surveillance systems for the interior in the future.
Independent surveillance drone: how is it supposed to work?
The small drone with a total of four motors is attached to a docking station - the camera on the back of the device is deactivated at this point. As soon as the drone is activated, for example by an interrupted contact on the door or window, it automatically flies through the apartment to the respective zone and films. The video is then automatically sent to the owner's smartphone. A remote control is apparently not provided.
How exactly the drone should avoid collisions with residents, furniture or pets is not yet revealed by Amazon.
During the presentation, only a short video was shown (see above) in which a burglar sneaks into a house, whereupon the Always Home Cam floats to the crime scene. In view of the drone that is buzzing towards him, the criminal becomes frightened and flees the house while the owner follows the whole thing via live video.
Those interested, however, will have to be patient a little longer: the new product is not due to be launched until sometime next year.
